KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 16.43 g, 12 h), Miletos, circa 210-190. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, lion walking left, head to right and star above; below lion, monogram of MI; to right and below throne, monogram. Price -, cf. 2184 (differing monogram to right). Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with light doubling, otherwise, extremely fine.
